Journey to Fitness
I don’t know about the rest of you guys out there, but for me building muscle has been incredibly hard. I have played sports all of my life, but never really seemed able to put on some good quality weight. I have friends that seem to be able to gain five pounds at drop of a hat, but for me it seems almost an impossible struggle.
I have decided this is going to be the year that it all turns around. I admit that my efforts in the past have been half hearted, but struggling to see only the smallest of gains would deflate anyone’s aspirations. One thing I have discovered though is that no matter how promising the package is on the weight gainer formula is, if it does not taste good, I will not take it. At least not on a consistent basis for it to do me any good.
It seems everywhere I look no one really tells the skinny guy how to put on weight. Everything seems geared towards people who want to lose weight. Right now I just know there are a plenty of people reading this saying, “Your so lucky, I put on five pounds in my sleep.” I assure you my situation seems just as dire to me. I am six foot even and I weigh about 143 pounds, but most of the time I tell people I’m 150 pounds.
Every weight gainer formula I have tried, and I have tried quite a few of them taste terrible and always leave feeling just bloated and ready to hurl. Most of them are a bit misleading when you are reading the directions on the back of the tub, they usually say something like (one serving two scoops). After you take this gigantic thing home you realize that just one scoop is bigger than the laundry detergent scoop! That is why I have decided to try to create a mix on my own that I hope will pack on some pounds. It is just a smoothie that is high in calories, but it tastes awesome.
Anyways here are is what I am doing:
1 cup of oranges 1/2 cup bananas 1 cup of Mangos 1 cup of Orange sherbet ( I am using blue bell) 1/2 cup of ice
I am also adding one serving size scoop of unflavored whey protein (23 g) not a detergent size scoop.
Place ingredients in blender and blend on low untill you get that little vortex going then blend on high, you may need a spoon to squish everything down to the blades. Make sure you turn the blender off before doing that!
I have made this smoothie several times and the protein did not affect the taste of the smoothie at all. I don’t know about the rest of you, but this is a lot easier to get down than the other stuff I have tried and it looks like it is about 655 calories. I am using the same way you would use a meal replacement powder, but it tastes soooo much better.
Hope this helps, I am going to couple this with an isometric and weight work out system and chart the results. Anyways hope this recipe helps some of my fellow hard gainers out there.
To your Health!
