Spray Suntan -Information and Tips
If in the past dark or brown skin was considered a sign of commonness and hard work in the fields, and only white skin could speak of nobility, presently, everybody feels great wearing a nice tan. Tanning is fashionable, but sun exposure is no longer safe. Even so, many alternatives have appeared to help people make their fashion statement, from tanning beds and tanning pills, to tanning lotions, spray suntan and tanning booths. Some of these skin browning methods do require the use of special equipment particularly for the application of spray suntan. Let’s see how this artificial tanning works and what the specificity of the method is.
Spray suntan is a more advantageous solution of skin browning as compared to lotions, creams or pills. First of all, it is safe and harmless for one’s health. Spray suntan products contain some non-toxic chemicals and moisturizing agents that create a chemical reaction with the amino acids in the superficial skin layers causing the brown coloring of the tissues. There is no modification of the skin structures and therefore no health problem. The effect of spray suntan is short, lasting up to ten days only. Lotions and creams do contain the same chemicals as spray sun tan but they are more difficult to apply evenly.
And streaks and stains will become major inconveniences under the circumstances. Spray suntan on the other hand is very popular with devices such as tanning machines or tanning booths; these devices offer a natural-looking tan at very reasonable prices. In fact, at the moment, dermatologists heartily recommend spray suntan over tanning beds. The tan color can be maintained only by regular visits to the salon and constant spraying a new tan layer. A post treatment moisturizer could also be used to prevent the tan from wearing off.
There are several categories of solutions used for spray suntan booths, but the majority of salons rely either on bronzers or on DHA. With bronzers the skin glow will be immediate and you will have to wipe the palms, the soles of the feet and the nails immediately to prevent coloring. DHA solutions take a few hours to act, but the tan you get afterwards is really great. We should conclude by saying that people with dry skin, should be cautious in using spray suntan. However, the best person to clarify all your questions and problems is a dermatologist, and he/she will know what to advise.
