Self Tanning Spray
The tanned look is popular and trendy; people like the brownish glow of their skin as it makes them feel fashionable and self-confident. Sun bathing is less and less advisable because of the number increase of the skin cancer cases, but alternatives have appeared to it. Artificial tanning using tanning beds or sunless tanning by artificial means such as body lotions, creams, gels or self tanning spray are widely available. Although the most advanced application is the use of a tanning machine or booth, not everybody can afford to go to a salon four times a month and get the tan refreshened. The do-it-yourself solutions thus become the most accessible and practical.
A self tan spray is a cosmetic product usually containing DHA that can be applied at home as a sunless tanning solution. DHA is a chemical that enters into a reaction with the skin amino acids and causes the brown coloring of the top skin layer. The effect of a self tanning spray lasts for around six or eight days if you are careful not to take too long showers and you avoid using too harsh soap. There are lots of challenges to self-tanning, and although it is cheaper than salon treatments, it is surely more difficult.
It is more difficult to achieve an even tan when using a self tanning spray. The coloring solution will be spread in a thin film with great care not to overlap too much. Darker tan shades appear because of overlapping. Then, another inconvenience in the use of a self tanning spray is the little access you have to certain body parts, which will require the presence of another person for assistance. The back, the nape and the bottom will cause most of the troubles. Ask a friend to help you with the tanning: this is the best way to get a good coverage.
Be careful to protect the eyes, the lips, the ears and other delicate body parts. It is also possible to stain your nails and palms when using a self tanning spray. You could eliminate this problem by using wet wipes whenever necessary without allowing the tanning agent to dry on the palms or nails. Last but not least, spraying too much substance could also prove unsuccessful because the tan may get too dark or unnatural. We could only conclude that despite the good price and the wide usage range, the self tanning spray remains inferior to tanning machines.
